Secrets of the Ancients

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Secrets of the Ancients Mini Box

Secrets of the Ancients features Luna’s Ancient Fairy Dragon, continuing the trend of a Signer Dragon headlining a box after Stardust, Power Tool and Blackwing Dragons. Secrets of the Ancients will release on Dec. 10, 2018.

This mini box contains more Synchro monsters and cards that make it easier to summon them. Junk Synchron is available as an Ultra Rare card, but it has one of the most powerful summoning effects in the game. Trident Warrior also floods the field with monsters, making it easy to Synchro Summon.

As for archetypes, decks that specialize in Beast monsters get a big boost with cards like Super Rush Recklessly and Berserking. Insects also get some good cards in this set with Verdant Sanctuary and Spiritual Forest. The “Ape” archetype is introduced in this set as well as the “Spider,” “Traptrix” and “Moja” archetypes making their debuts in Secrets of the Ancients.

There are only 50 cards in the Secrets of the Ancients mini box, but some are really worth picking up. Here’s the list of every card found in this upcoming set.

Dimension of the Wizards (MiniBox)

Dimension of the Wizards

The Dimension of the Wizards Mini BOX is brand new, and contains lots of awesome support for Psychic and Spellcaster-Type monsters. There are also new themes and there’s new support for existing themes. Plus, there are several cool new cards that fit into a variety of Decks. Check out some of the tech cards available in the Dimension of the Wizards Mini BOX!

1.) Dimensional Prison

Dimensional PrisonDimensional Prison replaced Sakuretsu Armor in most Decks in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME a long time ago, and was a mainstay on the competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME scene for many years. Now, Dimensional Prison is finally available in Duel Links! Dimensional Prison is a Normal Trap Card that targets an attacking monster and banishes it. It’s a simple card for getting a monster off of the field without destroying it.

Cards like Diamond Core of Koa’ki Meiru can protect monsters from destruction, but are helpless against the banishing powers of Dimensional Prison. In addition, many popular monsters, like Gozuki and Vampire Retainer, have effects that activate in the Graveyard. Dimensional Prison can banish those monsters from a Duel without giving those monsters the opportunity to use their effects. Dimensional Prison is more useful than the comparable Sakuretsu Armor in many situations, and because of that, will likely find its way into many Duelists’ PvP Decks in Duel Links.

2.) Psychic Commander

Psychic CommanderBest-suited for Psychic Decks, the Level 3 Psychic-Type Tuner Psychic Commander may find a place in other Decks as well. Psychic Commander only has 1400 ATK on its own, but whenever a Psychic-Type monster you control (including Psychic Commander) battles, during the Damage Step, you can pay Life Points in multiples of 100 (max. 500) to have the monster it’s battling lose that many ATK and DEF until the End Phase. This effect will allow Psychic Commander to take down any Attack Position monster with up to 1900 ATK and any Defense Position monster with fewer than 1900 DEF, as long as you have Life Points to spare. This effect, coupled with the fact that it’s a Level 3 Tuner, may cause Psychic Commander to find a place in the Decks of Duelists looking to facilitate Synchro Summons.

3.) Rocket Hand

Rocket HandThe new Rocket Hand Trap Card can be used on any Attack Position monster you control with 800 or more ATK. Rocket Hand becomes equipped to that monster and increases its ATK by 800. That alone makes it an interesting trick to use in the Battle Phase in order to allow your weaker monsters to triumph over an opponent’s stronger monster.

But Rocket Hand’s second effect is especially cool. You can send Rocket Hand to the Graveyard while it’s equipped to a monster to target a face-up card on the field and destroy it. Then, the ATK of the monster Rocket Hand was equipped to becomes 0, and that monster’s Battle Position can’t be changed. Activate Rocket Hand to allow your monster to win a battle, then send it to the Graveyard to destroy an opponent’s face-up card. Finally, use your monster whose ATK were reduced to 0 as a Tribute in a Tribute Summon or as Synchro Material in a Synchro Summon. That’ll allow you to make the most of Rocket Hand and the monster to which it was equipped.
